ABOUT THE "Spanning the Harlem" Safety and Leadership SUMMIT

An Experience That Redefines What “Safe” Really Means

In October of 2004, experts called it one of the most dangerous projects in America, and your Summit speaker and his 10 man team was there.

The reconstruction of the 3rd Avenue Bridge in Harlem wasn’t just complex—it was controlled chaos at scale. Aviation overhead. Maritime traffic below. Heavy construction in motion. Trucking and logistics moving nonstop. Hundreds of workers. Security details locking down perimeters. Public safety operating in real time—while the city never stopped moving around it - all while the 3000 ton 3rd avenue bridge was forging toward its location (and the hurricane threat it just came through was the least of the worries)

Multiple contractors.
Multiple chains of command.
Multiple definitions of “safe.”

All happening at once.

At the center of capturing it all was Mega Builders—and the executive producer of archival footage and on-site safety leader for the film crew, Ronnie White.

“Just when I thought I had reached my career peak of safety knowledge...Unthinkable Risk said....welcome to NYC Ronnie"

WHY THIS SUMMIT IS DIFFERENT

Most safety programs tell you what should happen...or "Wouldn't it be nice if we all did this or that"

This one shows you what actually does—when pressure is high, communication is strained, and the stakes are real.

  • No scripts.

  • No filters.

  • No easy answers.

  •
  • “You don’t sit through this summit—you get pulled into it.”

What would You do ? How would You do it ? This summit puts You there in

the moment to think outside of your daily safety mastery.

PART ONE: YOU’RE IN THE ROOM

The summit begins with a guided viewing of the actual Mega Builders episode featuring the 3rd Avenue Bridge project. But you’re not just watching.....

  • You’re sitting in the room where decisions are made.

  • You’re watching crews move under pressure.

  • You’re seeing risk develop—before anyone calls it out.

  • We pause at critical moments and break them open.

What you’ll experience :

  • The tension of multiple operations happening at once

  • The reality of conflicting priorities between teams

  • The moments where everything looks fine—until it isn’t

  • “You’ll catch the risk before they do—or realize why they didn’t.”

PART TWO: BREAK IT DOWN — WHERE IT GETS REAL

Once the footage is dissected, we shift from what happened… to what it means for you. This is where the room changes.

Now you’re not watching a project in NYC—you’re thinking about your floor, your site, your people.

Together, we break down:

  • What happens when too many leaders own safety—but no one truly controls it?

  • How communication gaps form in fast-moving environments?

  • Why experienced crews still miss critical warning signs?

  • The human side—pressure, fatigue, routine—that quietly creates risk

“You’ll start seeing your own operation in every mistake—and every close call.”

PART THREE: THE ROUNDTABLE — YOU’RE AT THE TABLE NOW

After the break, the format shifts completely.

The room tightens. The walls come down.
And now—you’re part of it.

Modeled after Discoveries "After the Catch", this is a no-script, high-level roundtable discussion.

You’re sitting shoulder-to-shoulder with:

  • Supervisors who deal with the same pressures you do

  • Safety leaders navigating real-world constraints

  • Decision-makers trying to balance production and protection

  • You Will:

  • Bring real challenges into the conversation

  • Hear what others are actually dealing with—not what gets reported

  • Exchange ideas that work in the field—not just on paper

  • Be guided by Ronnie White, who facilitates the conversation from experience—not theory

“This is where people say what normally doesn’t get said.”

BUILT FOR THE FRONT LINE

While Supervisors are usually the first line of defense in safety....

They’re also the most stretched, the most pressured, and the most relied on to get it right. This summit forces a new perspective and a new approach to what they do.

“If your supervisors aren’t engaged, your safety program is already at risk.”

WHAT YOU WALK AWAY WITH

This isn’t just something you attend and forget.

It stays with you—because you saw it, felt it, and talked through it.

You leave with:

  • A sharper instinct for spotting risk before it escalates

  • Practical ways to improve communication under pressure

  • A clearer understanding of how safety actually breaks down in real environments

  • Perspective from others facing the same challenges you are

THE BOTTOM LINE

There are safety meetings you attend…

…and then there are moments that change how you see risk forever.

“You won’t just watch this—you’ll feel the pressure, the decisions, and the consequences.”

Led by a Discovery Channel producer who lived one of the most dangerous projects of the decade, this summit blends real footage, real analysis, and real conversation into something the industry rarely experiences.

RESERVE YOUR SEAT

Because in safety—

“What you don’t see… is usually what gets you.”
